Jessi Luzius
she/her LMBT # 17671
I’m Jessi Luzius, licensed massage and bodywork therapist and owner of The Fold Bodywork studio. With spa, clinical, and athletic experience, the aim of my work is to help you alleviate pain and discomfort, gain and maintain functional mobility, as well as deepen connection to your body through bodywork in a safe and healing environment. My passion is deep therapeutic work and sports massage. I geek out working with performers and athletes and take a similar approach with all my clients, athletic or not, by sleuthing out your repetitive strain culprits (work at a desk, much?) and bringing healthy movement, mobility and balance back to the body. Each session is fully customized to cater to your specific needs, making sure you get the best experience and results possible.
I credit much of my early fascination with the human body and bodywork to my mother, who always had anatomy books and reflexology charts lying around the house. I’d study those endlessly and practice massage techniques with her at home. Fast forward many years of growing and traveling and career hopping and I finally came home to the idea of studying massage therapy in an official capacity. In 2018 I graduated from Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville with my 600 hour Massage and Bodywork certification. I went on to work in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where I gained thousands of hours of spa experience (and polished up my Spanish pretty well, too).
Returning to Asheville I have had the pleasure to work in some amazing clinics and healing houses and work as a soft tissue specialist at athletic events. I’ve taken my continuing education further and studied sports massage, cupping, neuromuscular, craniosacral, and positional release therapies. My work is informed by my varied education and experience and I incorporate many of these modalities into each session.
I am licensed through the state of North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy (NCBMBT). I am currently studying to get certified in sports therapy and personal training. When I’m not doing sessions or working with new massage students as a clinic supervisor at our local massage school, you can find me nerding out on anatomy books or getting into my own movement practices like roller skating, dancing, and weight and resistance training. Sometimes I just sit around and watch sci-fi movies and teen dramas and balance existential dread with pure hope and optimism...
Anyway, if you are looking for better body function in your everyday life–maybe you’re recovering from an injury, or have stiffness from working long hours at a desk, cheffing, serving tables or picking up kids all day, maybe you are looking to enhance your athletic performance and recovery or maybe you just need a mental break to really connect with your body–I would love to meet you and help you achieve your overall body balancing goals. All bodies welcome.
Sessions are offered in English or Spanish.
